When Andrew E. Anderson was born on 20 November 1863, in Stora Kil, Värmland, Sweden, his father, Erik Andersson, was 28 and his mother, Kajsa Larsdotter, was 26. He married Maria Nilsdotter on 9 January 1885, in Frykerud, Värmland, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Salt Lake, Utah, United States for about 25 years and Tulare Judicial Township, Tulare, California, United States in 1940. He died on 15 March 1948, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 84, and was buried in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Millcreek, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.

1869 · Transcontinental Railroad Reaches San Francisco
The first transcontinental railroad reached San Francisco in 1869. The Western Pacific Railroad Company built the track from Oakland to Sacramento. The Central Pacific Railroad Company of California built the section from Sacramento to Promontory Summit Utah. The railroad linked isolated California to the rest of the country which had far-reaching effects on the social and economical development of the state.
