He married Mary Ophelia Allred on 18 August 1891, in Manti, Sanpete, Utah, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. He lived in Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1900. He died on 4 April 1908, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 42, and was buried in Salt Lake City Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.

1867 · Sorry Mr. President, You can't do that.

This Act was to restrict the power of the President removing certain office holders without approval of the Senate. It denies the President the power to remove any executive officer who had been appointed by the president with the advice and consent of the Senate, unless the Senate approved the removal during the next full session of Congress. The Amendment was later repealed.

1873 · The Swedish Krona Becomes National Currency

The Swedish krona replaced the Swedish riksdaler as the national currency in 1873.

1881 · The Assassination of James Garfield

Garfield was shot twice by Charles J. Guitea at Railroad Station in Washington, D.C. on July 2, 1881. After eleven weeks of intensive and other care Garfield died in Elberon, New Jersey, the second of four presidents to be assassinated, following Abraham Lincoln.
