When Peder Hansen was born on 6 April 1825, in Skraverup, Næstved, Storstrøm, Denmark, his father, Hans Christiansen, was 38 and his mother, Inger Larsdatter, was 40. He married Johanne Sophie Jensdatter on 3 November 1848, in Fakse, Præstø, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Bennington, Bear Lake, Idaho, United States in 1880 and Georgetown, Bear Lake, Idaho, United States in 1900. He died on 22 October 1906, in Lovell, Big Horn, Wyoming, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Lovell Cemetery, Lovell, Big Horn, Wyoming, United States.

1827 · Slavery Becomes Illegal in New York State

During the years 1799 to 1827, New York went through a period of gradual emancipation. A Gradual Emancipation Law was passed in 1799 which freed slave children born after July 4, 1799. However, they were indentured until 25 years old for women and 28 years old for men. A law passed 1817 which freed slaves born before 1799, yet delayed their emancipation for ten years. All remaining slaves were freed in New York State on July 4, 1827.

1829 · Oldest Leather Goods in Denmark

Kuffert Sorensen was established in 1829 by Carl Peter Sorensen as a leather goods company. Today the business has five locations and each are run by a member of the Sorensen family.

1847 · Casino Theatre (Copenhagen)

The Casino Theatre was built as an entertainment center by Georg Carstensen but was converted into a theatre in 1848. After many years of never gaining popularity, it was closed in 1937 and demolished in 1960.
