Hansen Ferrell Sr was born on 3 July 1806, in Harpers Ferry, Jefferson, West Virginia, United States as the son of William Ferrell. He married Sarah Ruble on 21 May 1829, in Jefferson, Jefferson, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 6 daughters. He died on 11 August 1864, in Richland Township, Holmes, Ohio, United States, at the age of 58, and was buried in Nashville Methodist Church, Washington Township, Holmes, Ohio, United States.
