Alegria Hernández García was born in 1888, in Cuenca, Azuay, Ecuador as the daughter of Manuel del Espiritu Santo Hernandez Días and Mersedes Garcia. She married Fidel Eulogio Padilla Hernandez about 1906, in Llacao, Cuenca, Azuay, Ecuador. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 6 daughters. She died in 1976, in her hometown, at the age of 88, and was buried in Ricaurte, Cuenca, Azuay, Ecuador.
