Reinhold Karl Papenfus was born on 26 October 1860, in Stemnitz, Schlawe, Pomerania, Prussia, Germany as the son of Martin Papenfuss and Regine Friedericke Last. He married Marie Gisel on 4 November 1889, in Guerneville, Sonoma, California, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters. He lived in Pleasant Hill, Lane, Oregon, United States in 1910. He died on 1 March 1941, in Creswell, Lane, Oregon, United States, at the age of 80, and was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Lane, Oregon, United States.
