When Alexandre da Maya was christened on 15 November 1733, in Lemede, Coimbra, Portugal, his father, Manoel Francisco, was 34 and his mother, Luzia da Maya, was 35. He married Ignes Maria de Mello about 27 February 1759, in Casal, Viana do Castelo, Portugal. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 4 daughters. He died on 17 January 1809, in his hometown, at the age of 75.
