When Richard Marshal 3rd Earl of Pembroke was born in 1191, in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales, his father, William Marshal Earl of Pembroke, was 45 and his mother, Isabel de Clare Countess of Pembroke, was 21. He married Gervaise de Vitré, Vicomtesse de Dinan after 4 May 1222, in Dinan, Côtes-du-Nord, Brittany, France. He died on 16 April 1234, in Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland, at the age of 43, and was buried in Kilkenny, County Donegal, Ireland.
