He lived in Meigs, Tennessee, United States in 1850 and Hamilton, Tennessee, United States in 1860. He died on 5 October 1865, at the age of 86.

On April 18, 1780 Richmond became the capital of Virginia. It was the temporary capital from 1780-1788.
