When Lemuel Marcy was born on 23 May 1768, in Sturbridge, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States, his father, Elijah Marcy, was 35 and his mother, Sarah Stacy, was 33. He married Nancy Carpenter on 22 November 1791. He died on 8 January 1839, in Sturbridge, Anne Arundel, Maryland, United States, at the age of 70, and was buried in Woodstock, Windham, Connecticut, United States.
