George Kimpton Parker was born on 15 December 1877, in Ogden, Weber, Utah, United States as the son of Parker and Marcia Wing Snow. He married Leona Velleta Griffith on 17 March 1904, in Weber, Utah, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 2 daughters. He lived in Escalon, San Joaquin, California, United States in 1935 and Buttonwillow, Kern, California, United States in 1940. He registered for military service in 1919. He died on 11 March 1954, in Kern, California, United States, at the age of 76.

1881 · The Assassination of James Garfield

Garfield was shot twice by Charles J. Guitea at Railroad Station in Washington, D.C. on July 2, 1881. After eleven weeks of intensive and other care Garfield died in Elberon, New Jersey, the second of four presidents to be assassinated, following Abraham Lincoln.

Weber comes from John Henry Weber, an early fur trader. The university opened for students on January 7, 1889. By the late 1920's, the college was in financial difficulty and the Utah Legislature passed a law allowing the purchase of both Weber College and Snow College from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1954 the college moved from downtown Ogden the southeast bench area of the city where it resides currently.

After the explosion of the USS Maine in the Havana Harbor in Cuba, the United States engaged the Spanish in war. The war was fought on two fronts, one in Cuba, which helped gain their independence, and in the Philippines, which helped the US gain another territory for a time.
