    The Parliment of the United Kingdom passed the Mines and Collieries Act of 1842, mostly commonly known as the Mines Act of 1842. This act made it so that nobody under the age of ten could work in the mines and also females in general could not be employed.

On 24 October 1635 Davie Lupton set off on theConstance bound for VA, but there is no record of his arrivalin the New World. A Christopher Lupton is recorded in Suffolk Co.,Long Island, NY, c. 1635, and a large number of Luptons in NCdescend from him. An American family of the name settled in the areaof Winchester, VA, in the mid18th century; they can be traced back toMartin Lupton, who was married in 1630 in the parish of Rothwell,Yorkshire, England.
