In North America, the surname Martin has absorbed cognates and derivatives from other languages, e.g. Slovak and Rusyn (from Slovakia) Marcin , Albanian Martini , Polish surnames beginning with Marcin-, and Slovenian patronymics like Martinčič (see Martincic ).
