When Oliver Cutts was born on 19 January 1796, in Goshen, Sullivan, New Hampshire, United States, his father, Charles Cutts, was 23 and his mother, Abigail Hurd, was 19. He married Charlotte Croxford on 29 April 1823. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 5 daughters. He died on 14 January 1853, in Orange, Orange, Vermont, United States, at the age of 56, and was buried in Cutler Corner Cemetery, Orange, Orange, Vermont, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.

1808 · Concord Becomes the Capital

In 1808, Concord became the capital of New Hampshire. It was originally the Penacook Plantation given to the state by the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

War of 1812. U.S. declares war on Britain over British interference with American maritime shipping and westward expansion.
