When Rachel R. Tate was born on 24 August 1867, in Marion, Tennessee, United States, her father, Elijah Duncan Tate, was 35 and her mother, Malinda Jane Haskew, was 19. She married Thornton Hubert Martin on 12 January 1888, in Marion, Tennessee, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 5 daughters. She lived in Civil District 4, Marion, Tennessee, United States in 1910 and Civil District 10, Madison, Tennessee, United States in 1920. She died on 8 July 1926, at the age of 58, and was buried in Martin Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Martin Springs, Marion, Tennessee, United States.

1868 · Impeach the President!

Caused by many crimes and breaking the Tenure of Office Act, Many Senators and House Representatives became angry with President Johnson and began discussions of his Impeachment. After a special session of Congress, the Articles of Impeachment were approved by the House and then the Senate. Making Andrew Johnson the first President to be Impeached.

1878 · Yellow Fever Epidemic

When a man that had escaped a quarantined steamboat with yellow fever went to a restaurant he infected Kate Bionda the owner. This was the start of the yellow fever epidemic in Memphis, Tennessee. By the end of the epidemic 5,200 of the residence would die.
