When Bartholome Baumann was born on 4 September 1789, in Herisau, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Switzerland, his father, Johannes Baumann, was 28 and his mother, Elisabetha Grubenmann, was 25. He married Anna Zeller on 20 July 1819, in Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He died on 5 March 1836, at the age of 46, and was buried in Switzerland.
