On July 4, 1966, race riots started in Omaha, Nebraska, as a protest against civil unrest. The first of the riots started in July when a crowd of African Americans gathered and reacted violently to the Omaha Police Department. They demolished police cars and threw firebombs demolishing stores. This lasted for 3 days and ended in million of dollars of damage. In August of 1966, the next set of riots took place, when an 19 year old African American was shot by a white cop. Buildings were firebombed.

1 Irish: Anglicized form (with English genitive -s) of Gaelic Ó Dubhagáin ( see Dugan ) or, more likely, of Ó Duibhginn ( see Deegan ).2 Possibly a variant (by misdivision) of English Wiggins .
