Name Meaning

French: from a derivative of Latin calamus ‘reed’, denoting a feather pen, and hence, by metonymy, a scribe or clerk. However, the distribution of the name in North America is not compatible with normal French migration patterns, and it may be that it was brought via another country or that a different source is involved.
