When Ulrich Aebischer was born on 21 January 1742, in Guggisberg, Bern, Switzerland, his father, Jacob Aebischer, was 35 and his mother, Elsbeth Hostettler, was 26. He married Elisabeth Kilcher on 26 July 1770. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 2 June 1815, at the age of 73.
