1904 · The World's Fair of 1904

Age 2

St. Louis hosted the 1904 World's Fair and welcomed a crowd of 200,000 visitors on opening day of April 30, 1904. The fair had exhibits from 50 countries and 43 states. Several notable inventions showcased at the fair include iced tea and the ice cream cone. By the time of its closing in December 1904, over 20 million people had visited the fair.
1913 · The Completion of the Keokuk Dam

Age 11

The Keokuk Dam was completed in 1913 and began to power the surrounding area. It was the largest single capacity powerhouse in the world at the time. After World War II, the powerhouse was modernized and all the units were converted in 2002. It remains the largest privately owned and operated dam on the Mississippi River.

Pioneer Hi-Bred International was the leader company experimenting with hybridization of corn and other seeds for agriculture in the world.
