When Jorge Icaza Coronel was born on 10 July 1906, in Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador, his father, José Antonio Icaza Manzo, was 37 and his mother, Carmen Amelia Coronel Pareja, was 27. He married Laura Marina Moncayo Guerra on 16 July 1936, in Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. He immigrated to Brownsville, Cameron, Texas, United States in 1941. He died on 26 May 1978, in Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador, at the age of 71.
