When Margaretha von Allmen was born on 27 October 1743, in Wilderswil, Bern, Switzerland, her father, Jakob Von Almen, was 24 and her mother, Elizabetha Dannen, was 23. She married Christen Sterchi on 28 February 1766. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 5 daughters. She died on 8 February 1815, at the age of 71.
