1913 · Rotterdam School of Commerce opens

Age 7

Founded in 1913 by some of Rotterdam's most prominent entrepreneurs, the Netherlands School of Commerce received almost unanimous support from the local business community. It would be rebranded in 1973 as Erasmus University.

1927 · Natural History Museum Rotterdam opens

Age 21

Opened in 1927, the first site of the museum was in the attic above an all-girls school. It quickly outgrew the space and was moved to a site across the street from another museum in Mathenesserlaan. The museum was forced to move again in 1959, and 1987. In 1993, the museum was given a new pavilion. It finally finds its permanent home in the early 2000s, where it is today.
