James Albion was born on 1 May 1806, in Pendleton, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom as the son of Matthew Albion and Mary Booth. He married Ann Nancy Gerrard on 1 January 1830, in Bolton, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 3 daughters. He lived in Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1860 and Utah, United States in 1870. He died on 15 June 1892, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 86.

The Museum of Lancashire is located in the former courthouse of Preston in Lancashire, England. The building was designed by Thomas Rickman. Some the exhibits include Lancashire through the years, at work, at play, goes to war, and law and order. All depict different times and events in Lancashire county. The museum closed in 2015 and is now only opened for scheduled appointments.
