    Name Meaning

Altered form of French Lefollet (also Le Follet): variant of Follet, a nickname from follet ‘mad, crazy’. Because of the altered feminine-like ending, which reflects the Canadian and American French practice of sounding the final -t, the masculine definite article le was similarly changed to the feminine form la. The surname Lefollet or Le Follet is very rare in France.History: John Lefollet was recorded in 1752 living along the Wallkill River in NJ. He is believed to be the progenitor of the Lafollette Family.
