Name Meaning

English: topographic name from Anglo-Norman French, Middle English castel ‘castle’, ‘fortified building or set of buildings’, especially the residence of a feudal lord (Late Latin castellum, a diminutive of castrum ‘fort’, ‘Roman walled city’). The name would also have denoted a servant who lived and worked at such a place.
