When Johannes Huggler was born on 7 February 1797, in Hasliberg, Bern, Switzerland, his father, Melchior Hugler, was 27 and his mother, Katharina Welti, was 28. He married Mararitha Tännler on 24 January 1822, in Meiringen, Bern, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 16 March 1857, in Meiringen, Bern, Switzerland, at the age of 60.
