1884 · Sino-French War

Age 1

The Sino-French War, Tonkin War, or Tonquin war, was a conflict between China and France regarding the control of Tonkin, a region in northern Vietnam. The Qing Dynasty performed well on land and won limited strategic victories; however, the Qing forces in Taiwan and other surrounding islands were defeated by the French. Ultimately, the war ended with the Treaty of Tientsin, which arguably satisfied most of the goals of the French.
1887 · Fabrica Linera de Mexico established

Sometime in 1887, the Fabrica Linera de Mexico was established by Englishman Job Hamer and Cia. The owner, Job Hamer uses a considerable amount of money from the business, to donate substantially to the construction of the Church of Christ in Mexico City.
1910 · The Angel of Independence constructed

"As one of Mexico's most recognizable symbols, ""El Angel de la Independencia"" was built in 1910, in the middle of the ""Paseo de la Reforma"". It is one of several works commissioned by president Porfirio Diaz."

1 The Romanization Chi represents at least thirteen different Chinese surnames and a Korean one.2 Chinese 池: this character means ‘pond’ and is found in names of lakes and areas surrounding lakes. As many Chinese surnames originated in place names (often containing the word ‘pond’), so the surname Chi developed naturally from the word for ‘pond’.3 Chinese 纪: variant of Ji 1.
