1862 · Battle of Shiloh

The battle of Shiloh took place on April 6, 1862 and April 7, 1862. Confederate soldiers camp through the woods next to where the Union soldiers were camped at Pittsburg Landing on the Tennessee River. With 23,000 casualties this was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War up to this point.

1862 · Battle of Roanoke Island

On February 7, 1862, General Burnside's expedition started with the Battle of Roanoke Island. The battle was mostly fought by the Union and Confederate Navy's. This was a Union victory.

1867 · Sorry Mr. President, You can't do that.

This Act was to restrict the power of the President removing certain office holders without approval of the Senate. It denies the President the power to remove any executive officer who had been appointed by the president with the advice and consent of the Senate, unless the Senate approved the removal during the next full session of Congress. The Amendment was later repealed.
