When Johannes Bühler was born on 9 May 1750, in Schwellbrunn, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Switzerland, his father, Johannes Bühler, was 39 and his mother, Cathrina Kessler, was 35. He married Anna Cathrina Gähler on 4 December 1772, in Schwellbrunn, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 30 April 1824, in his hometown, at the age of 73, and was buried in Schwellbrunn, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Switzerland.
