James Hawkins was born on 7 March 1818, in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom as the son of Elizabeth Kenyon. He married Sarah Bradshaw on 14 February 1841, in Manchester, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom. He lived in Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1850 and Ogden, Weber, Utah, United States in 1860. He died on 15 January 1894, in Huntsville, Weber, Utah, United States, at the age of 75, and was buried in Huntsville, Weber, Utah, United States.

1819 · Panic! of 1819

With the Aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars the global market for trade was down. During this time, America had its first financial crisis and it lasted for only two years. 

1821 · New Ouse Bridge Completed

The original Ouse Bridge collapsed in 1154 under the weight of a crowd that was on it. In 1367, after the bridge had been replaced with stone and became the site of the first public toilets. In 1564-1565 the bridge was finally done being repaired. In 1810 and 1818 the bridge was dismantled to make way for a new Ouse Bridge design and completed in 1821.

English: habitational name, with excrescent -s, from Hawkinge (Kent). The placename derives from the Old English personal name Heafoc or Old English heafoc ‘hawk’ + the placename forming suffix -ing. This name has been assimilated to the patronymic surname in Devon from Sir John Hawkyns (1532–95), victor against the Spanish Armada (1588), who was a member of the Devon family of Hawkins, a branch of a Kentish family from the village of Hawkinge. They held land in Plymouth as long ago as 1480.
