When Mathias Christian Hemmert was born on 8 August 1807, in Slagelse, Sorø, Denmark, his father, Hans Jacob Hemmert, was 46 and his mother, Ingeborg Marie Ebbesen, was 42. He married Ane Christensdatter on 11 June 1830. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. He lived in Pedersborg, Sorø, Denmark in 1850 and Pedersborg, Alsted, Sorø, Denmark in 1850. He died on 23 July 1869, in Mount Pleasant, Sanpete, Utah, United States, at the age of 61.

1808 · Dannebrogordenens Haederstegn

Dannebrogordenens Haederstegn, The Cross of Honour of the Order of the Dannebrog, is an award connected to the Danish Order of the Dannebrog. The cross was instituted by King Frederick VI of Denmark and Norway on June 28, 1808 and was named Dannebrogsmendenes Haederstegn until 1952. The award is given to any Dane who has provided a service to Denmark through a noble deed. The cross is considered an additional recognition if awarded to someone who is already a holder of the Order.

1825 · The Crimes Act

The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.
