When Zoltán Vilmos Kodály was born on 16 December 1882, in Kecskemét, Pest-Pilis-Solt-Kiskun, Hungary, his father, Frigyes Kodály, was 29 and his mother, Paulina Jaloveczky, was 25. He married Emma Schlesinger on 3 August 1910, in Budapest, Hungary. He immigrated to New York City, New York, United States in 1946. He died on 6 March 1967, in Budapest, Hungary, at the age of 84, and was buried in Farkasréti temető, Budapest, Hungary.
