He married Rebecca Elizabeth Harmon on 9 July 1771, in Maryland, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Rowan, North Carolina, United States in 1810. He died on 22 October 1832, in Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina, United States, at the age of 84, and was buried in Mocksville, Davie, North Carolina, United States.
