He married Catharina Hoelzgen on 6 November 1825, in Kärlich, Coblenz, Rhineland, Prussia, Germany. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 11 daughters. He lived in New York, United States in 1870 and West Turin, Lewis, New York, United States in 1870. He registered for military service in 1822. He died on 27 September 1889, in Rome, Oneida, New York, United States, at the age of 89, and was buried in Rome, Oneida, New York, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.

1825 · The Crimes Act

The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.
