John Ledermann was born on 26 October 1826, in Graben, Bern, Switzerland as the son of Andries Ledermann and Susannah Luessli. He married Katherina Schmied in 1862. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters. He lived in Mount Sterling, Cache, Utah, United States in 1900. He died on 14 January 1912, in Logan, Cache, Utah, United States, at the age of 85, and was buried in Logan, Cache, Utah, United States.
