When Maria Demetria Garza Ramos was born on 22 December 1823, in Marín, Nuevo León, Mexico, her father, Andres Garza, was 21 and her mother, Maria Gertrudis Ramos, was 19. She married Jose Bartolo Caballero de la Garza on 22 February 1840, in Marín, Nuevo León, Mexico. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 4 daughters. She died on 9 October 1892, in her hometown, at the age of 68.
