When John Lyons Dilman was born on 28 January 1849, in Whitchurch, York, Ontario, Canada, his father, Elisha Dillman, was 24 and his mother, Mary Lyons Dilman, was 21. He married Mary Faulkner on 5 November 1883, in Newmarket, York, Ontario, Canada. He died on 15 January 1884, at the age of 34, and was buried in Pine Orchard Friends Cemetery, Stouffville, York, Ontario, Canada.
