He lived in Cullybackey, County Antrim, Ireland in 1911. He died from 10 March 1997 to 3 October 1997, in Ballymena, Seke, Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe.

In the Government of Ireland Act 1920, Ireland was partitioned, with the unionist-dominated north east becoming Northern Ireland.

New elections. The voters return de Valera and also approve a new constitution which abolishes the Irish Free State and proclaims Eire (Gaelic for Ireland) as a sovereign, independent, democratic state.

Scottish and northern Irish: Anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Shealbhaigh, ‘son of Sealbhach’, a personal name from the adjective sealbhach ‘rich in herds, rich’. McKelvey is stressed on the syllable Anglicized Kel, but where the pronunciation is unfamiliar confusion is possible with McEvoy .
