When William Murison was born on 11 November 1889, in Tarves, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, his father, James Murison, was 28 and his mother, Isabella Henderson, was 30. He married Daisy Beatrice Scrimshaw on 2 August 1913, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He lived in Scotland in 1891 and New Deer, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, United Kingdom in 1901. He died on 24 June 1917, in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, at the age of 27.

1890 · Opening of the Forth Railway Bridge.

The Forth Bridge is a railway bridge across the Firth of Forth river in the east of Scotland, 9 miles west of Edinburgh City Center. It is considered as a symbol of Scotland and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was opened on 4 March and was the longest single cantilever bridge span in the world until 1919. It is still in operation.

1896 · Opening of the Glasgow Subway.

The Glasgow Subway opened on 14 December and is the third-oldest underground metro system in the world. It is one of very few subways that have a running gauge of 4 feet, but its twin circular lines were never expanded.

1902 · The Scottish National Antarctic Expedition

The Scottish National Antarctic Expedition was organized and led by William Speirs Bruce. Him along with Robert Falcon Scott’s Discovery Expedition completed an exploration of Antarctica. They established the first manned meteorological station, the Orcadas, in 1903 and discovered new land east of the Weddell Sea. The expedition was described as the most cost-effective and carefully planned scientific expedition of the Heroic Age. The Orcadas weather station has been in continuous operation ever since.
