    Winston Churchill becomes prime minister. British fighter pilots repel German air attacks in the Battle of Britain. London and other cities badly damaged in German bombing raids.

    1940 · Liverpool Blitz

    Age 17

    From August 1940 - May 1941, the Liverpool Blitz took place. The area was a target because of the port located there. Over 3,000 people were killed during the different blitzes that took place. Over 10,000 houses were also destroyed. Many were seriously inuried.
