    Name Meaning

Welsh: from gwyn ‘fair, white’, which was also used as a personal name. See Gwynn .

Irish: in Ireland this is usually the Welsh name, but in Connacht it was adopted for Gaelic Ó Gaoithin ‘descendant of Gaoithín’ (see Gahan ), because Gaelic gaoth also means ‘wind’, and the English surname Wynne was taken as being related to the English vocabulary word wind.

    English: variant of Wynn .
