When Pedro María Campos Vega was born on 30 June 1884, in Heredia, Costa Rica, his father, Tranquilino de la Concepcion Campos Alvarado, was 33 and his mother, Maria Vega Chacon, was 24. He married María Eufelia de los Dolores Villalobos Arce on 22 September 1904, in Heredia, Costa Rica. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 6 daughters. He died on 1 December 1975, in Alajuela, Alajuela, Costa Rica, at the age of 91, and was buried in Concepción, Palmitos, Naranjo, Alajuela, Costa Rica.
