Name Meaning

Altered form of German Threnkamp, a topographic name for someone living by a hummocky field, from Middle Low German trint ‘round, hump’ + kamp ‘enclosed field, domain’. The element trint occurs frequently in field and placenames, such as Drentwede (Hanover), Trendelenburg (Westphalia).

German: perhaps also a topographic name from Middle High German tren ‘drone, bumblebee’ + kamp ‘field, domain’.
