When Reverend Theodore Richard Schaffer was born on 30 April 1932, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, his father, Warren Holcombe Schaffer Sr., was 41 and his mother, Anna Elizabeth Hess, was 38. He married Suzanne Shaffer on 17 December 1955. He died on 27 April 2011, in Hubbard, Trumbull, Ohio, United States, at the age of 78, and was buried in Lutheran Theological Seminary Memorial Garden, Gettysburg, Adams, Pennsylvania, United States.
