Othuel d'Avranches was born in 1075, in Chester, Cheshire, England as the son of Hugh d'Avranches Earl of Chester and Unknown Mistress. He had at least 2 sons with Marguerite de Rie. He died on 25 November 1120, in At Sea, at the age of 45.
