1890 · The Sherman Antitrust Act

This Act tried to prevent the raising of prices by restricting trade. The purpose of the Act was to preserve a competitive marketplace to protect consumers from abuse.

1917 · Women Given the Right to Vote in New York

Voters in New York approve a bill giving women the right to vote. This is passed three years prior to the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution which allowed women to vote nationwide.

1918 · Attempting to Stop the War

To end World War I, President Wilson created a list of principles to be used as negotiations for peace among the nations.
