    1954 · Algerian War with France

    From November 1, 1954 to March 19, 1962 France was at war with Algeria. It started when a simple protest march to demand Algerian independence turned into a massacre. Algeria gained their indpendence from France.

    France is now in their 5th Republic it started in 1958, after a coup in Algeria convicted officials in Paris and dissolved Parliament. In the 5th Republic the President is elected by the public. There were eight presidents in this time the eighth was Emmanuel Macron.
