He married Philena Bond on 8 December 1836, in Portage, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 1 daughter. He died on 14 April 1846, in Allen, Ohio, United States, at the age of 33, and was buried in Perry Chapel Cemetery, Townsend, Allen, Ohio, United States.

1820 · Making States Equal
The Missouri Compromise helped provide the entrance of Maine as a free state and Missouri as a slave state into the United States. As part of the compromise, slavery was prohibited north of the 36°30′ parallel, excluding Missouri.
1825 · The Crimes Act
The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.
