When Olof Estenberg was born on 21 September 1680, in Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden, his father, Pehr Olofsson Estenberg, was 34 and his mother, Elsa Bengsdotter Balck, was 22. He married Christina Carlsdotter on 29 November 1724, in Sweden. He died on 7 November 1752, at the age of 72.

The Great Northern War from 1700 through 1721 resulted in the loss of land amassed by Sweden in areas such as Germany, Norway, and Denmark. Nearly 200,000 Swedes lost their lives due to the war while Sweden lost much of its dominance in the Baltic Region.
